Book Discussion and Author Signing with Zach Adams July 11th

Zach Adams, Project Manager at Trout Unlimited and an expert birder, will lead a discussion at the library about the bank swallow box he built and installed on the Konkapot River on Hartsville Mill River Rd. Bank swallows breed in colonies and build their nests by tunneling into riverbanks. Please join the New Marlborough Land Trust and the New Marlborough Library on July 11th at 1PM to learn about these special birds and why they spend time on the Konkapot. Following the discussion, Zach will be available to sign copies of his book, “Birds of New England” (a Timber Press Field Guide), a beautiful guidebook filled with stunning photos and details about all the birds you might find right here in New Marlborough. Books will be available for purchase.

Art Exhibit Opening Reception July 11th

July’s Library Art Exhibit features works by artist John Dillon. Join us for the opening reception on Saturday, July 11th, from 4PM to 5:30PM. Come browse the exhibition, chat with the artist, and enjoy light refreshments.

Community Stargazing Event with Peter Dunphy July 24th

Stargazing is dependent on the weather; backup weather dates Sat the 25th or Sun the 26th of July. The event will take place at the Goodnow Preserve in Mill River, starting at sunset around 8:15PM and going until about 10PM. Come to learn about telescopes, share and discuss naked eye constellation and star identification, look at the moon with an optical telescope, and look at Deep Sky objects like a nebula with a digital “smart telescope”. What to bring: binoculars if you have them, tick protection, and a red light headlamp if you have one. You can also download the free Stellarium App. Contact the Library with any questions.

Game Night August 5th

Game Night is every first Wednesday of the month from 7PM-9PM. Bring your own favorite games from home to play, or play any of the games in the Library’s collection. Come hang out, enjoy some drinks and snacks, and learn new games!
